Rude Mechs is an ensemble-based theatre collective that creates genre-averse live performance representing a cocktail of big ideas, cheap laughs, and dizzying spectacle. What these works hold in common is the use of play to make performance, the use of venues as meeting places for audiences and artists, and the use of humor as tool for intellectual investigation. We tour these performances nationally and abroad; manage a multidisciplinary arts’ space, and conduct outreach in performance and writing for refugees.
“They keep taking perilous theatrical leaps, but we are the ones to feel sweaty-palmed, nearly vertiginous exhilaration.” – Helen Shaw, Time Out New York
